Introductions

Me

Hello! My name is Mason Oberle. Some people call me MO so, if that’s more to your liking, feel free to call me that. I enjoy making art, building lego, playing video games, and watching video essays on youtube. I’ll primarily be using this blog to house all of the work I’m doing for my Digital Storytelling class, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use this site to post some of my other projects. If you’d like to know more about me, I have embedded a few posts where I go into more detail about some of my interests and hobbies.

I’m looking forward to sharing all of my upcoming work with you!

  1. We will be watching and creating videoessays later in the semester, so I’m glad you appreciate them. Could The Joy of Painting be considered a kind of videoessay?

    • I think I would classify The Joy of Painting as being more similar to a tutorial or walkthrough since Ross is asking his viewers to follow along in completing a task. That’s not to say that I think these two genre of video are mutually exclusive or that The Joy of Painting doesn’t have any videoessay elements within it. I just think Ross’s reasons for creating his show differ greatly from most of the people whose videoessays I watch.
